Zimbabwean Actor Daniel Lasker Joins Netflix’s “One Piece” Live-Action as Mr. 9.

Netflix is setting sail for the Grand Line with a new crew of villains! The streaming giant has announced the first wave of casting for season two of its live-action “One Piece” adaptation, focusing on the nefarious Baroque Works organization. Among the recruits is Zimbabwean actor Daniel Lasker, who will portray the cunning Mr. 9.

Lasker, a rising star also known for his work on the HBO Max sci-fi series “Raised by Wolves,” joins the previously announced cast members bringing the Baroque Works crew to life. David Dastmalchian (“The Suicide Squad”) takes the role of the wax-wielding Mr. 3, while Jazzara Jaslyn (“Lioness”) and Camrus Johnson (“Batwoman”) portray Miss Valentine and Mr. 5, respectively.

These four actors represent the first additions to the “One Piece” live-action cast since the initial announcement of the Straw Hat Pirates. The highly anticipated series follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they search for the legendary treasure One Piece.

Lasker’s casting as Mr. 9 is a win for both the actor and the series. A self-proclaimed “long-time fan of the manga and anime,” Lasker brings not only his acting talents but also his enthusiasm for the source material. Fans can expect to see Mr. 9’s signature fighting style, which utilizes twin metal bats and hidden steel ropes, come to life in a thrilling live-action adaptation.

With season one focusing on the early adventures of the Straw Hats, season two is poised to delve deeper into the world of “One Piece” and introduce iconic villains like Baroque Works. The addition of Lasker and his fellow cast members promises to add a new layer of excitement to the series, leaving fans eager for more news about the upcoming season.
